The week has flown by so quickly and before we knew it it was time to say our goodbyes. We could however not let our visitors leave without teaching them our own POP song called “Be the change” that was composed by a great friend of the farm, Ms. Alyson Thomas who is an English teacher at Cwmtawe School in Wales. Thanks Aly, for giving our youth something that they are now able to give to others.

Lewis got everyone involved in painting their hands (and later their faces too!) on a big piece of paper which really summed up the week which was that we started off as two seperate groups coming from totally different backgrounds, but completed the week as ONE group that had to be forced to say goodbye to each other before midnight on the last evening. I think this is exactly what Madiba had in mind when he requested all of us on his 91st birthday to give 67 minutes of our time in service of others and building a stronger, caring, peaceful, loving and compassionate world. This fitted in so nicely with our theme for our youth project for 2009 which is teaching our youth to be “servant leaders”. To end off this amazing week, the young people from both groups gave each other a small gift (see pictures) as a token of their gratitude and newly formed friendships. Of course, we could not let our friends leave without singing “Making Melodies” for one last time! Well done, Ms. Roberts.
Although we were all very sad to see our newly made friends leave we were comforted by the fact that at least we had the best time of our lives! So, please
Mr. Griffiths don’t cry….this is not goodbye it is just farewell. See you again in 2011!
Thank you Mr. Griffiths, Mr. Hopkins, Ms. Roberts, Ms. Booth, Donna, all the students, their parents and the all at Cowbridge school for giving us all happy memories to think about.
With love and much appreciation,
From the Goedgedacht team.
